Conservation & Threats

Due to their resilience, aggressive colonisation and relative anonymity, there is little information about the conservation status of Myrionema (Encyclopedia of Life). 
However, as has been established this genus does not perform well under low-light, low-circulation, or extreme salinity conditions. Due to their sessile morphology, Myrionema are vulnerable to any dramatic environmental impacts on their habitat.

Furthermore, some natural predators have been identified as numerous species of sea urchin and angelfish, in addition to the sea-hare Dolabella auricolaria and the nudibranch Pteraeolidia (Ronchi 2012).
